About the Pro/Junior Golf Classic
Brad Hildebrandt
The Pro/Junior Golf Classic benefiting The Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour was resurrected in the winter of 2011 with the hopes of allowing junior golfers and professionals the opportunity of more local competition. Jim Kenesky approached the Board of Directors for the Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour with the idea that the junior golfers in the area could be paired up with some of the PGA of Canada's top players in a unique tournament. This would allow the juniors a day with a professional, to walk beside, talk with, learn from, and compete with. The hope is relationships will be made and will make for our younger players to stay in the great game of golf beyond their junior years.
Tradition
The Pro/Junior Golf Classic is a tournament that will revolve around tradition such like the deep tradition and history of the Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour. Many golf professionals in the Hamilton/Halton region of Ontario were once players on the Junior Tour and were able to hone their skills at a local scene. The Junior Tour propelled many of them into scholarship opportunities and professional careers. The Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour has been operating as a non-profit golf tour for 29 years and is still going strong.

Paul Jamieson Memorial Trophy
Paul Jamieson was a PGA of Canada Golf Professional who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at an early age and despite his physical burden was able to become a member of the PGA. Paul was a member of the Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour in the mid 1990's and also played on the Golden Horseshoe Area Golf Tour. Though many of Paul's days were filled with pain and struggle, he managed to be a great professional and was well respected by those that were close to him. He eventually lost his battle to the disease and the Pro/Junior Golf Classic awards the top team with the Paul Jamieson Memorial Trophy.
